Have you been wanting to straighten your teeth since you can remember but can’t afford it? I’ve been there… I was born with a large set of teeth and a mouth too small to fit them. I had braces for 5 years, followed by adjustable retainers.
In the end, my teeth shifted back and I once again became insecure of my crowded smile. I did not want metal braces again… but I couldn’t afford the alternative, invisible aligners. Then one day my friend told me about her “smile plan” with Smile Direct Club, or SDC.
Once I heard her story, I did my own research to find other like-minded people and read their Smile Direct Club Reviews. I spent a few hours Googling and seeing tons of before and after photos, I decided to give it a shot.
One year later, I have the smile I always wanted and the confidence to show it off. Bet part was, I didn’t have to get braces again!
Below I’ll share my real and honest Smile Direct Club review, my own before and after pictures, the cost, how it all works, and my Smile Direct Club coupon code to order your impression kit.
My Smile Direct Club Review
I’ll admit, I was a little apprehensive at first. Could I really straighten my teeth from the comforts of my own home? I mean, my teeth were crowded! I honestly didn’t realize how crowded they were until I took the initial pictures of my teeth for my dental specialist to review.
My fear was they would say I was not a good candidate and not allow me to move forward to the next step. To my surprise, they approved me a few days later to order my impression kit.
The Dental Impression Kit
About a week later my kit arrived. I was super excited and nervous at the same time, I read the instructions closely and got started. Once you do one impression the rest go pretty quick.
I placed them back in the box with the pre-paid return shipping label and crossed my fingers they would be accepted. Another week later I got the email that they were accepted and my smile plan was underway.
After I Was Accepted
At this point, I started telling my family and friends what I was doing. I was looking for some positive feedback to keep me motivated on following through with the entire process. Thankfully, they were very supportive which made me feel confident that I was making the right decision.
I kept logging into my dashboard to see if the status of my smile plan had been updated. Finally, a few weeks later, it said my 3D smile treatment plan was complete and ready for review.
My Smile Treatment Plan Review
My treatment plan was going to be 8 months long and include a total of 16 trays. I had to wear them a total of 22 hours a day and would switch every two weeks. They had a 3D view that showed exactly how my teeth were going to shift throughout the process.
Once I finished reviewing my plan, I decided to move forward and order my new aligners! When researching other Smile Direct Club Reviews, some plans were created to have you leave each set in for two weeks. Other plans had you leaving the first & second set of the month in for 1 week, then the next set for 2 weeks. So they had 3 set changes within 1 month.
Next, I’ll show you my Smile Direct Club before and after pictures and continue to share my experience throughout my progress.
My Smile Direct Club Before and After Pictures
I took lots of before and after pictures throughout my treatment plan for my Smile Direct Club blog. I was relieved when I put my first set in and didn’t feel too much pressure, just enough to know they were working.
The first few months I could feel they were shifting, especially with my tongue rubbing against the back of my teeth as they were straightening. However, it wasn’t until month three, tray seven, that I really started noticing a difference.
I was halfway through my treatment plan when my husband and co-workers started to notice a difference in my smile. The entire inside of my mouth felt odd when I talked and chewed but in a good way.
I really didn’t experience any pain, just pressure the first few days I switched to a new tray. I was always told by my orthodontists that the crowding of my teeth would cause plaque to build up.
You could start to see the discoloration as my teeth shifted from plaque building up and staining them overtime. The plaque seemed to keep disappearing each time I switched trays. I was able to remove any remaining plaque by using Plax before I brushed my teeth.
It was recommended to me by another #SDCSuccess friend I met in a support/results group I found. Below is my last Smile Direct Club before and after side by side comparison photo I took. I’m so happy with my #SmileDirectClub results so far!
How Much Does Smile Direct Club Cost?
Smile Direct Club costs ⅓ the price of their competitors and even offer a monthly installment plan with no interest. No need to apply for CareCredit or any other credit card company that charges you a minimum of 20% interest.
I’ve been there and done that with my pets medical bills! I did the monthly payment plan, I couldn’t afford to pay for my aligners in full up front.
First I bought my impression kit for $95. (you’ll get 50% off with my Smile Direct Club coupon code below) Then once my impression kit was accepted I set up “SmilePay” and they began auto debiting my account monthly. The first payment went through 3 weeks after the initial setup.
It’s a 24-month payment plan for $80 per month, in the end, you end up paying about $2,170. They also have the option for “SinglePay” which is a one-time payment of $1,850, so you end up saving $430. Then once you’re done with the treatment plan you have the option to purchase clear retainers for $99.
When I was reading Smile Direct Club Reviews online, I noticed there was a price difference from above. It used to be $99 per month, but
How Does Smile Direct Club Work?
Smile Direct Club works the same way other invisible aligners do. Technology has given us many new opportunities that reduce costs for everyone. Smile Direct Club cut costs by cutting out the middleman, also known as your local orthodontist. Don’t let that scare you, you still have a dental professional assigned to your treatment plan.
Smile Direct Club uses the same technology as Invisalign, and even the same company to make some of their aligners. If it makes you feel more comfortable, you can have your local orthodontist oversee your treatment plan. Smile Direct Club is a great alternative to Invisalign.
You still save a ton of money because you don’t have to pay $5,000-$7,000 just to have them take your impressions for you and send them off the to the lab that makes the aligners.
According to most Smile Direct Club Reviews, I’ve read most of the impressions were accepted the first time. Some of them did say they had to do it a second time due to the first impression being rejected.
Smile Direct Club Coupon Code
Hey, money is money! I wish somebody shared their Smile Direct Club coupon code with me before I started. If you click here or below, you’ll receive 50% off your impression kit! Or schedule a 3D scan at your local smile club. The scan is free!
This was absolutely the right choice for me and I highly recommend it to anyone looking to achieve the smile they’ve always dreamed of, without braces. They even send you a whitening kit for free! I didn’t have high hopes that it would work on my teeth since I tried other whitening gels and strips before.
To my surprise, it quickly whitened my teeth and I didn’t notice any sensitivity when I used it. If you’re prone to sensitivity when whitening your teeth, I would recommend ordering a revitalizing gel, it’s super cheap on Amazon.
It removes any sensitivity you may experience, you apply the gel directly onto your teeth right before you put your aligners in.
